2016 NWES Ford Mustang Makes Test Debut

The march towards the 2016 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season progressed on Friday with the unveiling of the brand new Ford Mustang at a development session at Fontenay Le Comte, France, where the new “game changing” 2016 package was put to the test, providing exciting results.

Bold, aggressive and fascinating, the Ford Mustang features strong visual ties with its production counterpart, which made its European in 2015 and represents the perfect match for the Chevrolet SS the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series presented at the Circuit Zolder Finals in October.

The “Next Level” 2016 package, including improved aerodynamics, brakes, suspensions, Dexwet air filter and safety, designed to increase performances and the car’s already unmatched cost effectiveness, provided highly positive results, with an average gain of 0.7 seconds per kilometer on the previous configuration.

“Everybody is very excited with the new 2016 cars! They really look amazing and I’m proud of the job done by our organization and our friends at NASCAR USA. NWES Cars Selected For the Race Of Champions For Sixth Consecutive Time

The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series cars will be among the vehicles selected for the annual Race Of Champions for the sixth consecutive time and the new 2016 NWES car will make its racing debut at the Olympic Stadium in London, in the hands of some of the best drivers in the world.

The Race of Champions is not only a competition for driving skills but also an opportunity for automotive manufacturers to showcase their latest technologies and designs. To ensure the cars look their best on the track, the organizers have sourced high-quality automotive paint supplies to give them a flawless finish. The paints used on the cars not only enhance their appearance but also protect them from environmental factors like UV rays, moisture, and dust. With the increasing demand for eco-friendly products, manufacturers are now opting for low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints that are not only safe for the environment but also produce a high-quality finish.

The interior of the cars also plays a significant role in the driver’s comfort and overall experience. One car manufacturer that has been receiving a lot of attention for its innovative interior designs is Tesla. The company’s electric cars come with a sleek and minimalistic interior that features a large touchscreen display that controls most of the car’s functions. The minimalist design, along with the high-quality materials used in the interior, provides a luxurious and modern feel. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, it will be interesting to see how other car manufacturers incorporate similar tesla interior designs into their vehicles.

Four-time Formula 1 Champion Sebastian Vettel, 2014 Indianapolis 500 Ryan Hunter-Reay,  nine-time Le Mans 24H winner Tom Kristensen, 2014 World RallyCross and 2003 World Rally champion Petter Solberg, two-time World Touring Car Champion José Maria LÓPEZ and three-time Motogp champion Jorge Lorenzo are among the drivers who will take the wheel of a wide variety of cars on November 20-21 on the track built inside the Olympic Stadium and with their 400 hp V8s, the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series cars will serve as benchmark to determine this year’s “Champion Of Champions”. “We are proud of this selection and we thank Fredrik Johnsson, Michele Mouton and their team for their confidence. Our cars have proven through the years they can race everywhere : from the biggest tracks like Monza or Daytona to the twisty and narrow ROC stadium tracks. They are pure racing beasts fully dedicated to provide great fun to drivers and fans.” said Jerome Galpin, President – CEO of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.

The tradition of the Race Of Champions dates back to 1988, when the first edition took place in Paris, and during the years has brought the best drivers of the world – including multiple-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champions Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson – to race at the wheel of a variety of cars all over the World, from Gran Canaria to Beijing. The sixth consecutive selection for the EuroNASCAR cars demonstrates once again their unique character and the ability to provide huge entertainment for every kind of driver, from beginners to world champions.

The competition articulates on two distinct races: the Nations Cup, in which two drivers form a nation’s team and challenge each other to determine the best national team, and the Race Of Champions, the individual competition. The Nations Cup will take place on Friday, November 20 at 8 pm GMT, while the Race Of Champions will begin at 3 pm GMT on Sunday November 21.

Coeur De France : 4 Team FJ cars in the top-10

Team FJ concluded the Rallye Coeur De France, valid for the Division II French Rally Championship, with four cars in the top-5, led by the second-placed Ford Fiesta WRC of Pierre Roche / Martin Roche.

Roche ended up 22 seconds behind race winner Eric Brunson, despite winning four of the Coeur de France’s 10 special stages in preparation of the next race of the Division I French Rally Championship, the Sept 3-5 Rallye de Mont-Blanc Morzine.

“Congratulations to Eric and Cédric! On our side, we are quite satisfied with our performance. It was a good training for next week’s Mont-Blanc rally,” said Roche.

Michel Morin fought hard for the third place until the end at the wheel of the Team FJ Ford Fiesta R5, but had to settle for fourth by just 11 seconds, winning the R group and scoring important points for the French Rally Cup.

Jerome Galpin / Anne Galpin ended up 5th with the Team FJ Peugeot 207 S2000, just ahead of teammates Jean-Luc Roche / Olivier Bacle, driving the Team FJ Mini WRC, while Jean Galpin / Françoise Galpin finished a mere five seconds outside the top-10 in 12th position with the Subaru Impreza WRC.

Team FJ adopts the Skoda R5

Team FJ will receive a first Skoda Fabia R5 in January 2016, while a second one will follow soon. They will be available for renting programs in the French Rally Championship and the French Rally Cup, but also for European ERC and WRC events.

Team FJ, celebrating 25 years of activity in 2016, is a top-level team on the French scene, with more than 300 wins and various podiums in the French Championship and Cup. The team, already fielding a Mini WRC, two Subaru WRC, two 207 S2000 and one DS3-R2 will keep developing its rally activities thanks to the Skoda R5, which will be the first to land in France.

“It’s a logic choice,” declared Jean Galpin (Team FJ co-founder and Rally manager). “Today the R5 category is developing quickly and it’s gaining ground at every level, both national and International. The agreement was reached a few weeks ago, when Jerome and I went to Mladá Boleslav to meet the Skoda Motorsport representatives and present them our sporting projects for the future.”

“Since 1991, Team FJ developed its skills and activities in motorsports to offer the best service to our drivers and partners, both on the technical and logistical side and in marketing and communications,” concluded Jerome Galpin (Président CEO de Team FJ). “Rallies are among our core priorities, with the goal to win the French Championship and the French Cup, but also to expand on the international scene. The Skoda is the best weapon to reach those goals and allow all the drivers and teams that trust us to battle for the win”

Positive first tests for the « Team FJ – Sodemo RX » Megane

The new « Team FJ – Sodemo RX » Rallycross team unveiled its war horse: the Megan RX Supercars’ first test was very positive.

Officially launched in April, the Rallycross “Team FJ – Sodemo RX” structure presented its new car: the Megane RX Supercar. “It is a very good looking car, with an aggressive line,” said Sodemo representative Guillaume Maillard. “The engine is, at present, a 1.6 litres Turbo, developing 530 HP. It is a racing lab, on which we’ll test parts and procedures aiming at a cost reduction for Supercar engines, preserving a an excellent level of performance. We are at the beginning of the development and the goal is eventually to present this solutions to the Supercar market, with an engine size that will change based on regulations.”

Team FJ, in charge of the chassis development, choose for this ambitious program to cooperate with Jean-Claude Vaucard, the renowned all-conquering engineer that won in the WRC, at the Dakar and at Le Mans. “It is a great pleasure to work with Jean-Claude”, said Jérome Galpin, Team FJ’s president. “His experience and his skills are incredible and I know very few persons as passionate as him! We already worked together in rallying and on our NASCAR cars, so it seemed perfectly natural to work together again on the Rallycross project.”

The first tests took place yesterday on the Chateauroux track and provided a positive feedback. “We are satisfied with this first outing because the car is born well!” declared Jérome Galpin. ”Guillaume was forced to stay at the office, so it was my turn to take the wheel… for my pleasure! It is easy to drive and very responsive to the setup changes we tried. It is very encouraging for the future.”

Unfortunately, a technical problem with the turbo took the test to an early end, also forcing to cancel plans to debut this weekend in the Pont de Ruan race, valid for the French Championship. “Nothing strange”, confirmed Guillaume Maillard and Jerome Galpin. “It is part of the development and all our crew will keep working for the next test… and the first race.”
